Modern dating is essentially just online dating. Though it doesn't work. The fundamental issue is that women evolved to judge the competence of men by the social cues from other men. If one man has the respect of other men then he must be highly competent. Dating apps don't communicate any of these social cues so the only one they are left with is the fact they are on a dating app which is a huge negative signal screaming to the woman that this man is a loser. The only way to break through this noise is to be extremely attractive. So attractive that they obviously have to fight off women and must only be on a dating app because they are looking for someone extra special. Women are only too happy to imagine that they are this extra special women and so it works for both sides. However, this leaves the other 95% of men on the apps serving the sole purpose of confirming that the highly attractive man is in fact highly attractive relative to other men.
